Yes, I went to the most OREGON-IC state in the United States and stayed at the most EX-TRAVEL-GENT hotel in Portland! Portland, OR is located 15 mins away from Vancouver, WA and is about an hour to Salam (the capital) and about 2 hours away to Eugene. If you want to go to Seattle, you can take HWY 5 and from there, it’s going to be about a 4 hour drive. Portland, OR spans about 78 miles, making it the largest city in Oregon and home to many vibrant and lively neighborhoods. Portland is definitely a very quirky city with many murals, artwork, hikes, a lot of nature, many bike paths, and great food. I visited Portland from July 14th-19th and its been a pleasure to stay at this luxury hotel. If you are ever in Portland, OR and love to splurge/spoil yourself with living the luxurious lifestyle and having great amenities, then The Nines Hotel is the perfect hotel for you!

The Nines Hotel is located at Downtown on Morrison Street. I was actually at the Bidwell first before coming to the Nines hotel and it was about a 5-7 walk from my other hotel. If you are coming from the PDX airport, make sure you take the Red Line on the Lightrail to Beaverton and then you get off on Pioneer Square North. The one-way cost of the ticket was $2.50 and it was about a 45 min ride to Downtown. From there, the stop is literally across from the hotel so you should see it when you get off the Lightrail. If you are heading back to go to PDX, the Pioneer Square South stop is about 3-4 min walk on the otherside of the Pioneer Courthouse Square. If you are Ubering to the hotel, it will cost you about $21 to get there in about 20 mins and if you are renting a car, it’s about a 20 min drive and the valet parking will be free to all guests staying at The Nines Hotel.

From The Nines Hotel, Pioneer Square is less than a 2 min walk where you can hangout and relax. There are also about 3-5 food trucks in that area as well incase you get hungry. There are also many shops and restaurants near the Nines hotel that you can explore within walking distance. If you go to Williamette River, there is a gorgeous view of Portland with a beautiful water view. It’s only about 10-15 min walk from the Nines hotel and is so worth it to go. Another tourist attraction you should definitely go to is the Chinese Lan Su Gardens because I heard the Koi pond is so attractive to look at and the garden itself is just beautiful. It’s about a 15 min walk and a 6 min drive from the Nines Hotel but be aware, it’s $14 to get into the garden. The Rose Garden at Washington Park is another really nice area to check out too. It’s one of the largest rose gardens in the US and is close to the Japanese Gardens too. It’s about a 40 min walk to the park and gardens and a 12 min drive to get up there as well. These are just some of many tourist attractions to see in Portland, OR.

The Nines Hotel is a very luxurious hotel with unique art pieces that you will see throughout the hotel. When you walk in The Nines hotel, on the first floor, you will see valet check-in and then from there, you will get directions on where/how to park your car at the property. From there, they will ask you to go up to the 8th floor and that is where the lobby is. The Nines has 331 rooms with 9 stories (why it’s called The Nines hotel) and serval meeting/ballrooms. This hotel also features a nice living room behind the front desk where you can relax at and there is a bright sky light that has very nice soft lighting. There is also a library and a barrel room on the same floor as the lobby however, it is only reserved for meeting spaces. The amenities of the hotel are free coffee and tea daily at the lobby but if you want them to bring it up to your room, you can request that (there is no coffee nor tea maker at your room). There is also a 24-hour fitness room, a rooftop patio on the 15th floor (closed on Mondays and Tuesdays), 24 hour room service, complimentary Wi-Fi, laundry service, daily housekeeping, and is pet-friendly (please read the terms on their website on more about pets). On the 12th floor, there is also a club room, however that is closed for now until next year. The hotel has two restaurant: one of them is Urban Farmer which is open from 7am-2pm and 5-11pm everyday and Departure which is open from 4-11pm and closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Both of them are very beautiful and upscale restaurants that you must check out!

In 1909, this was when the building was built but in 1922, it became known as the Meir and Frank building(Aaron Meier and Sigmund Frank). This building used to function as a radio station but when it peaked, it gradually became a department store. In 2005, the department store transformed into a luxury hotel. The Nines Hotel was opened in 2009 and the reason why it’s called The Nines hotel because of the top 9 floors that is considered the hotel. The floor numbers go from 8-15 floors and floors 1-6 are just meeting rooms/office spaces. Another reason why The Nines was named that way is because it pays homage to the saying “dress to the nines;” an idiom meaning “to perfection“ or “to the highest degree.” The Nines hotel was built luxuriously to impress people, showing off their rich and artistic interior/exterior. As you enter through the lobby at The Nines Hotel, you see many art pieces like manikins, jewelry, sculptures, and paintings on the wall. My favorite piece was Bird Song (shown on the right) because of how structurally it looks. It adds character to the hotel and you can hear birds chirping at those poles. Take a look around the lobby and living area as you will see many art pieces to discover at The Nines.

I was honored to stay at The Nines Hotel and stayed on the 12th floor a an amazing guest suite. When I first walked in, this guest room was very beautiful. There was a bathrobe, slippers, and there was also a champagne/wine bottle with snacks in the room as well (but you will need to pay a fee if you decided to eat their snacks and drinks. There is also a fridge to store food and a safe as well to lock your belongings but there is no microwave. The coffee/tea maker will be on the 8th floor as there is none in your room however at any time or day, you can request room service to bring it up to you in your room so you don’t need to go down. I saw some unique architecture as well carried on from the lobby. The lamps were very quirky, the wallpaper had a nice design, and I saw a pretty light fixure on the corner of my room. The bathroom was also a very nice large size comapred to other hotels. They provided with you shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel in the shower. There are also clean towels and a hair dryer as well in the bathroom. The only thing about the bathroom was that the floors were very cold so you would need to wear slippers or shoes since there are no heated floors. You get that nice, artistic, and luxurious feel with pops of blue and it’s a bougie vibe to feel. My view was very nice because it overlooked Downtown Portland with many buildings and had a nice city vibe when you look outside. There was a concert that is going on in Pioneer Courthouse Square so you can hear the concert going on since the hotel is next to the square however, you should still get a goodnight sleep since the concert doesn’t go all night. It’s just during the afternoon/early evening. There is a bit of noise since you are in the Downtown Area however, it wasn’t super loud and I still slept well. If you are going to stay at The Nines, be careful around that area because there are some sketchy people roaming the area however, it wasn’t too bad when I stayed there. Just always be aware of your surroundings and be careful.

Overall, this hotel has been an amazing, luxurious, glamours, and artist hotel that is relaxing, eye-popping, and extravagant! Very clean hotel with the sweetest staff at the hotel and it makes you feel you are living the lux life! I think the biggest selling point about the hotel is that 15th floor rooftop patio where it overlooks Portland, OR. It’s such a nice place to hangout and there are cozy fire pits for you to get comfortable at too plus a bar area for drinks. Huge shoutout to Cruz who took me on the hotel tour, Anandi for checking me in and out of the hotel, and Joseph who checked up on me during my visit! These people are amazing and can help you out whenever you are at The Nines Hotel! Want a luxurious stay during your visit to Portland, make sure you book with The Nines Hotel!
