Manhattan, NY is one of the hottest(hyped up) cities that tourist love to visit too because of the attractions and culture that Manhattan brings. It is among one of the 5 burrows of New York city and located very close to New Jeresy ( EWR by shuttle, it is 30 mins, driving is appox. 15 mins to get to Manhattan). Some famous attractions that tourists love to go to are the Brooklyn/Manhattan bridge, Chinatown, Times Square, Central Station, the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, and more! Manhattan is also home to some bomb food places that are really hyping New York up. It is among one of the best food scenes in New York and the world but definitely, other cities in NY have awesome food places as well. I was only in NY for one day so here are the food places I went to that I highly recommend checking out!
M and W Bakery
Photo: Pineapple Bun
Craving pastries? M and W Bakery is located in Chinatown in Manhattan! I got their regular pineapple bun and I can tell this was a fresh pineapple bun. The top was very flakey and golden and the taste was crunchy, soft, and buttery. A perfect pineapple bun for the perfect first NYC post!
2. Glur Thai
Photo: Pad Thai with Tofu
Thai food is one of my favorite cuisines in the world. I‘m so happy that they have thai food in NY but did you know, this place has VEGAN-FRIENDLY Thai food?. I ordered some thai dishes and my favorite dishes had to be the vegan scallion pancake and the Pad Makua which is an eggplant dish! I loved the vegan scallion pancake because of the soft texture and the fact the flavors were on point. I can taste the green onion and the batter of the pancake was very light compared to other scallion pancakes I had in the past. It was just so addicting to eat. I also love the pad makua because the medley of vegetables and tofu looked so appealing and you get that hit of black pepper in the dish. No way this was tasteless and the black pepper with that salty sauce complimented the dish perfectly! I really recommend coming here because this place has the best vegan food!
3. Biao Sugar
Photo: Devil’s Egg Brown Sugar and Coffee Foam
This boba spot is known for their popular Devil’s Egg Brown Sugar boba and I gotta say, it’s one of the best brown sugar drinks I’ve ever tasted! The brown sugar was very present and it wasn’t too sweet at all! Visually, it doesn’t look like a lot but the flavor is all I care about! The boba texture had just the right amount of chewiness and the drink was pretty light! The coffee foam drink was awesome as well and I’m not a huge coffee person but if you love coffee, definitely get this drink!
4. Soft Swerve
Photo: Ube Yam with Fruity pebbles and Mini Marshmallows
SWERVE your way to this ice cream shop in Manhattan! I got the ube yam with fruity pebbles and marshmallows and the ube flavor was so strong. I really love how each of the flavors are strong and the creaminess of the ice cream. The ube had a strong purple yam flavor and I love the texture of the fruitty pebbles as a topping. This has got to be one of my favorite ice cream places of all time and I highly recommend checking out this ice cream spot in NYC!
5. Ichiran
Photo: Classic Tonkatsu and Veggie Ramen
Ichiran is one of the most popular ramen spots in Japan and now, they brought it to NYC! I was so fortunate to come here because I heard this ramen spot is hyped. Indeed, Ichiran did not disappoint me at all! The broth of the vegetable ramen had a nice salty umami flavor and the noodles were just the perfect texture. The noodles were spongy and the flavor of the broth was perfect with a bit of kick. The famous classic tonkatsu had the nice rich, creamy, umami broth that everyone dies for. It was so delicious that Ichiran has to be one of your MUST-GO to places if you are craving ramen in NYC! One day, I want to go to Japan and compare their Ichiran with the one in NYC. I love How they brought it to NY but wish they brought it to California as well!
